10 SEO Tips and Tricks

Higher ranking in the search engines’ results = more traffic = more sales = more profit

In order to make its place among the results on the top page of Google, your site has to be SEO optimized. That’s where all the magic happens. So if you are not one of those guys who are secretly praying to Google for higher ranking before going to bed, then below you can find a bag of free SEO tips and tricks that might prove useful. The advices are divided into two articles and are only briefly described because if I have to fall into all the details and specifics, not two but twenty articles will be needed. What is more all the 10 SEO factors are equally important and their order was randomly chosen.

1. Profound Keyword Research.

Profound keyword research First think about the niche that your site is going to target and then start the keyword exploration. Using tools like the Google Keyword AdWords Tool is really credential. It shows all the keyword combinations that gravitate around yours and provide a set of useful metrics like rank of the keyword, global monthly searches and local monthly searches.
You better concentrate on the so called long-tail keywords (combinations of 4-5-6 words) because they will bring to your site more qualitative traffic. Long-tails are less looked for and therefore are easy to compete for. Furthermore if someone finds your site through them he/she will be more probable to stay longer and even make a purchase.

A good SEO trick is to include the Keyword Sugegstions from the search engines. 70% of the users are more likeable to click one of the suggestions that pops up after starting to write their query so if you are betting on long-tail optimization definitely help yourself with tools like the SEOggestor.

2. Regular site vs the WordPress platform.

Wordpress site platformSEO tip number two is the dispute – regular or WP site? Seriously barely anyone decides to create a site for internet business from the scratch. What is gaining more popularity is the WordPress platform that has many benefits and offers beautiful themes. Simply buy a domain, install WordPress on it and it is all ready. Search engines and their bots “like” WP sites more because they are better organized and are easier to crawl. Moreover there are numerous WP plug-ins that might prove to be very useful. On the other hand if you still are not ready to opt for the WP and are not SEO-experienced, then contact an expert in order everything to be done the way it has to be done.

3. Analyze and be SEO aware!
analyze and be seo awareThe Search Engine Optimization is not something that is done one time and then lasts forever. In the ranking charts everything is extremely dynamic and if you don’t follow a set of certain SEO metrics concerning your site, than success will be hardly achievable. Knowing whether you are becoming more or less popular or whether you are gaining or losing positions is very important. I handy tool that I would recommend you for constantly checking the SEO status of your site is the SEOAuditor! Google Page Rank and the Alexa Ranking is what should be more carefully followed. If you want to keep an eye on who is visiting the site and how much time is being spent on it than Google Analytics is what you need.

4. Social medias and their great SEO potential!

social medias and their seo potentialSocial medias and webs have become so popular and widely used that search engines are starting to pay more and more attention to them. If you have a Facebook page with 100k likes or a video on YouTube with 50k views this would give your site a substantial boost in the ranking positions. What is more such mediums with so many users are the perfect places for popularizing your brand and attracting more prospective customers. Of course don’t believe that if you have 1000 followers on Facebook, when sharing something it will reach them all. It has been proven that only 15%-20% of your total audience is reached and if you want your posts to be more widely spread, they should be promoted, for certain amount of money. Not very nice but as in everything else – in order to make some profit first you have to invest and believe me, social medias can do miracles when taking the matter to generating more site traffic.

5. Let your users share and make you more popular!

social medias website panelsApart from being socially active, there is one more thing that should be done as long as social webs and medias are concerned – let your users be socially active while browsing your site. This can again be easily done with a WordPress plug-in like in our site. Scroll down the page and check out our social panel for the most popular sites where sharing really matters. Every user that clicks on this panel creates valuable backlinks and link juice for the site that will be taken into account by the search engines while examining and evaluating the shared page/s. Furthermore when someone shares/tweets a link it becomes available to thousands of other people who are again prospective clients. What is more, social webs have become smarter and if someone has shown an interest at your site in Facebook, after a while your posts might start to pop-up into his news feed automatically and therefore keep him aware of your new products or recent updates. This is a really good way to build up a strong community behind the site. If you want constantly to check your social SEO metrics SEOAuditor again will provide you with the number of Facebook likes, Tweets and Google+ shares of a particular URL.

Top Blogging SEO Tips

Focus on Long-Tail Keywords – Not Generic Ones.

When writing content for your blog or corporate site, it is very important not to jam a ton of keywords into a single blog post. Instead, focus on 1-2 keywords for each ariticle. It’s best to limit your amount of keywords to this number because 1) search engines like google and bing will actually penalize your post if it looks like you are jamming tons of keywords, and 2) it will keep you focused on a goal for your article or post. Of course more than one keyword may appear in your post; but the overall goal of the post should be focused enough to allow you to spend more time optimizing for just one or two targeted keywords.

Long-tail keywords may also be more efficient to use since your website visitors searching long-tail terms will often be more qualified then users searching for a generic term.

Where are the most SEO juicy parts of your posts to include these terms so you rank high in google? There are 4 important places where you should try to include your keywords:

a) Page Title

The title of your blog post should for sure include your keywords, but try to keep your long-tail keyword under 80 characters. The title of your article will be a search engine’s and reader’s first step in determining how relevant and important your content is, so including a keyword here is imperative.

b) Body

Mention your keywords at a normal pace throughout your post — don’t jam it in as many times as you possible can. Search engines like google will penalize any post they believe is using keyword mentions too many times for a particular keyword, so this requires close attention in your writing process.

c) URL

Search engines also look at your URL to figure out what your post is about. Your URL should reflect your title and content, so make sure the keywords you use are relevant to the article. If you have to trim your article URL down, make sure you keep your keywords in it.

d) Meta Description
Later in this blog article, we will get deeper into explaining meta descriptions. Your meta description is there to give search engines and your website users information about your blog post’s content. So be sure to use your long-tail term clearly here so Google and your website audience are well aware of the post’s content, but also keep in mind that how engaging the content matters for your conversion rates.

Include Meta Optimizations.

Meta optimization is not limited just to meta descriptions. Your page meta description is the additional text that appears on the search results that lets the user know what the link is all about.

meta-description
The meta description is important because it gives your readers information they need to decide whether or not your content is what they are looking for.

Your meta description should include the long-tail keyword you are trying to rank on google for, because if you are doing blogging right, it’s representative of the contents of your article.

Optimize your Images.

Your blog posts should not only contain text for SEO targeting – you should also have images that help explain your page content. Search engines don’t just look for images they look for images with alt text embedded in them.

You can figure out an image’s alt text by placing your cursor over an image and a small box will appear that describes your image

Don’t use too many Headings.

Headings can help organize your blog content but you can overuse them and then they can actually be harmful to your rankings. If you have too many similar headings you will be penalized by search engines for having duplicate content.

Use URL structures that help your visitors.

The URL structure of your website should make it very simple for your visitors to understand the structure of your site and what content they are trying to find. Search engines love URL structures that make it simple for them and your website users to understand the content of that page.

5 Basic SEO Tips

SEO can be a little hard to understand, especially since key strategies change as the search engines change, but the basic purpose of SEO is always to have your business visible on the web when people look for you. Here are five of the most basic but essential tips for effective SEO.

Tip #1 Know Your Keywords

In order to get traffic, you must know what to target. Find what keywords generate traffic from your clients and make sure they are present on your website. They should appear in the meta tags, page names, URLs, and content. Don't insert keywords where it would sound unnatural.  Always write for humans, not search engines.

Start with a short list of what your clients use to find you. This could be very general, such as “optometrist,” or more specific, such as “custom designer frames.” Also, look at your competitors. Are they using prominent wording that is relevant to your business? You can check the search volume (potential clients) using online tools such as wordtracker.com. This will give you an idea of what terms are both targeted and producing sufficient traffic.

Once you have a short list make sure your site contains your main keywords in the page titles, headings, and meta description.

Tip #2 Content

Content is the most important part of your site. It is critical to have well-written content that is interesting and useful, as well as keyword rich. When writing the content, remember to sound natural. Try to use your keywords sparingly, generally not more than once a paragraph.

If you have multiple keywords to target, don’t try to cram them all into your homepage. The home page should be for your most important terms only. Create individual pages that can be optimized for more specific terms and products. For example, if you offer 5 specific services create a keyword rich page for each.

Tip #3 Social Media

Social Media has become increasingly important in SEO. A good social media presence can generate referral traffic through links and reviews and keep existing clients engaged. You should have regularly updated and accurate business pages for Facebook, Google+, and Twitter.

Encourage your clients to review your site on their preferred social media and keep them engaged with updates, offers, and regular posts. Reviews are important for being competitive in local search and helping clients decide to choose you.

Tip #4 Directories
Having your info accurate on Yahoo, Yelp, etc. is important for local search. Inconsistent information could keep clients from finding you and can negatively affect your search ranking. Also keep an eye out for industry specific directories, such as healthgrades.com and vitals.com for doctors.

Do an audit of popular directories and see if they have your business name, address, phone number, hours, and website correct. Many of these are automated and can have incorrect or outdated information.

Tip #5 Update Regularly

Keeping fresh content on your website has become increasingly important. You should have a new blog post or content update at least once a month to show that the site is being maintained. This is important to keep the site from being static and out of date for users and also to show its value to the search engines.

Google Maps Revamps Quality Guidelines For Local Pages

What has changed with the new Google local page quality guidelines?

"Google Maps has updated their local pages quality guidelines last night. Jade Wang from the Google team posted the news in the Google Forums saying:
We’ve updated and clarified our quality guidelines for local pages. Please read the new version here, and, as always, feel free to contact our support team with any specific questions about your account."

There are a couple local SEO experts that have dug through the old guidelines to compare it to the new guidelines. I saved a screen shot of the old guidelines, which you can see over here.
Seo Experts in Mumbai - Vivek More

Mike Blumenthal documented the “obvious changes” including:
  1. Descriptors of any sort are NOT allowed
  2. Categories should be the more specific category and NOT the overarching, general category
  3. Increased name and category consistency amongst multi location chains
  4. Two or more brands at the same location must pick one name
  5. If Different departments are to have their own page they must have unique categories
  6. Practitioner’s pages, in multi location practices should have their name only and not the name of the practice
  7. Solo Practitioners only can use the format of Practice: Practitioner
  8. Virtual Offices are NOT allowed unless staffed.

Google Maps local have always been somewhat of the “wild west” of the search space. So many are asking, despite these guidelines, will Google actually have the man power and resources to actually enforce these rules?
