External link (anchor) text is the most important factor…In my experience, external link text matters way more than anything else.  That is, the actual words in the links back to your sites and pages.

If you get link text right, link back sites’ pagerank matter way less. Usual SEO advice is to contentrate on link backs from high pagerank sources…However, higher pagerank links are much harder to get than lower pagerank links.  And what is often missed is that if you can get even a few lower pageank sites to link back to you using the key phrases you want to rank for, you can rank highly on those search terms even with little or no high pagerank link backs.

Widgets are great strategies…they help you get link-backs from a variety of sites, often on their front pages and often on multiple pages within the sites…it doesn’t matter if they are all low pagerank sites because you can control the link text…If you do a widget, don’t forget you need that static link in it.  That is, it can’t all be JavaScript.

Don’t guess search term volume. Use Google’s Keyword & Trends tools.

Select terms that convert… Ideally, don’t guess here either…

Don’t bother if you can’t get in the top 10…A good thing to do is to add one more word to the general term, so if you end up ranking well for the specific term you are helping your rankings for the more general one as well. Then if it turns out the specific one was easy (you quickly become #1), you’ve already gone part way on the general one.

Don’t pay any for any general SEO service…Note I’m not saying don’t pay anyone for SEO, because if you need basic help, a consult from someone in the know might be helpful to, for example, tell you how to re-layout your site and to explain this post to you :).

Beware of nofollow links. Nofollow links are links with a special attribute that tell search engines to ignore them.  To check a link, view the source of that page in your Web browser and look for rel=nofollow in it… Don’t waste your time submitting comments and editing Wikipedia articles with your links because it won’t help you.

Don’t waste your time with Google Sitemaps...

Don’t ignore the long-tail…First, make sure you have a static site… Second, look at all the content you can produce or have produced.  Can you combine it in interesting ways that people would find useful?  For example, at Duck Duck Go we have category pages.

Make as flat a site hierarchy as possible. Pagerank seems to flow logarithmicly from a homepage to its internal pages.  So if you have pages you want ranked highly, either you need links back to them directly or have them linked directly from your homepage…

Use directories instead of subdomains. For example, domain/blog instead of blog.domain.

Less is more. Ranking is distributed across your site, so less pages, less links on them, and less text on them will concentrate your ranking potential on what is left.

Don’t do anything black hat. You will get caught, you will not pass go, etc.

How to Optimize Dynamic Website or Pages?



Definition of Dynamic Pages :



Dynamic pages are the pages generated "on-the-fly" from a database. It is also known as database-driven pages. PHP, Perl, ASP, etc are using to generate dynamic pages.


It is difficult for the search engines to read the dynamic pages. It is generated when user select variable. It is not possible for search engines to select those variables and this reason these pages cannot indexed.


Dynamic URL's contains strings like &, %, ? and due to these characters problems starts for the search crawlers to read the content. But it is possible to index the dynamic pages also.


Here, I am writing the way through which a dynamic page can be readable by the crawlers :



  1. Place links of the dynamic pages on static pages. Further it can be submitted in search engines manually. Most of the dynamic pages will indexed by the search engine by this way.
  2. Coldfusion and other softwares are available which can replace special characters like ?, %, & with alternative text. 
  3. Using help of CGI/Perl, we can convert query string in the url with suitable text. Path_Info and Script_Name are environment variables which contains complete URL including strings in dynamic pages.
  4. Web hosting company also provides module with Apache software that can convert dynamic URL into urls that can be indexed by search engines. The mod_rewrite available for Apache that converts requested url into search engine friendly urls.

Google has launched the new application called Google +1 very recently. If you have seen carefully, there is a +1 sign next to each search result in Google search results page. You only want to have one (or two) h1 tags per a page. It is important to not just throw anything into an h1 tag and hope you rank for it.

Making sure that your internal linking helps robots (and visitors!) to find the content on your site is huge. Using relevant copy throughout your site will tell the robots (and visitors!) more effectively what to expect on the corresponding page. You do want to make sure that on pages you don’t want to rank in Google that you add a nofollow tag to ensure that the ranking flow of your site corresponds with your site’s topic and interests. Choosing a SEO Company...


After you have been dealing for some time with SEO on your own, you discover that no matter how hard you try, your site does not rank well or that your site ranks well but optimizing it for search engines takes all your time and all your other tasks lag behind. If this is the case with you, maybe it is better to consider hiring a SEO company to do the work for you. With so many
SEO companies out there, you can't complain that you have no choice. Or is it just the opposite – so many companies but few reliable?

It is stretching the truth to say that there are no reliable SEO companies. Yes, there might be many scam SEO companies but if you know what to look for when selecting a SEO company, the risk of hiring fraudsters is reduced. It is much better if you yourself have a substantial knowledge of SEO and can easily decide if they promise you the starts in the sky or their goals are realistic but even if you are not quite familiar with SEO practices, here is a list with some points to watch for when choosing a SEO company:

Ask for examples of sites they have optimized. Do they use automated submissions? If they do, stay away from them. Automated submissions can get you banned from search engines.

Do they use any black hat SEO tricks? You need to know in advance what black hat SEO is in order to judge them, so getting familiar with the most important black hat SEO tricks is worth before you go and start cross-examining them.

Where do they collect backlinks from? Backlinks are very, very important for SEO success but if they come from link farms and other similar sites, this can cause a lot of trouble. So, make sure the SEO firm collects links from reputable sites only.

Get some personal impressions, if possible. Gut instinct and impressions from meetings are also a way to judge a company, though sometimes it is not difficult to get mislead, so use this approach with caution.

High price does not guarantee high quality. If you are eager to pay more, this does not mean that you will get more. Just because a firm costs more DOES NOT make them better SEO's. There are many reasons for high prices and high quality is only one of them. For instance, the company might work inefficiently and this is the reason for their ridiculously

high costs, not the quality of their work.

Cheap is more expensive. This is also true. If you think you can pay peanuts for a professional SEO campaign, then you need to think again. Professional SEO companies offer realistic prices.

Use tricky questions. Using tricky questions is a double-edged sword, especially if you are not an expert. But there are several easy questions that can help you.

For instance, you might ask them how many search engines they will automatically submit your site to. If they are scammers, they will try to impress you with big numbers. But in this case, the best answer would be "no automatic submissions".

Another tricky question is to ask them if they will place in you top 10 for some competitive keywords of your choice. The trap here is that it is them, not you, who chooses the words that are best for your site. It is not that probable that they will choose exactly the same words as you suggest, so if they tell you that you just give them the words and they push you to the top, tell them “Goodbye”.

Do they offer subscription services? SEO is a constant process and if you want to rank well and keep on like that, efforts are necessary all the time. Because of this, it is better to select a company that includes post-optimization maintenance, than get a company that pushes your site to the top and then leaves you in the wild on your own.
